A man wanted to get into his work building, but he had forgotten
his code. However, he did remember five clues.
These are what those clues were:
# The fifth number plus the third number equals fourteen.
# The fourth number is one more than the second number.
# The first number is one less than twice the second number.
# The second number plus the third number equals ten.
# The sum of all five numbers is 30.
What were the five numbers and in what order?
The numbers in order are
ReplyDelete7, 4, 6, 5, and 8.
suppose digits are: A B C D E
ReplyDelete1) E + C =14
2) B + 1 = D
3) A = 2 * B - 1
4) B + C = 10
5) A + B + C + D + E = 30
start with 5
Using 1
A + B+ D + 14 = 30
A + B+ D = 16
Using 3
2B -1 + B + D = 16
3*B + D = 17
using 2)
3*B + B + 1 = 17
B=4
Using 2
D = 5
Using 3
A= 7
using 4
C= 6
using 1
E = 8
7 4 6 5 8
Get all the numbers in terms of B, add them all and solve for B.
ReplyDeleteA B C D E F
A = 2B-1
B = B
C = 10 -B
D = 1 + B
E = 14 - C ==> Sub C=10-B. C=B+4
Add them all up, and solve for B. You get B=4.
Substitute B in all the terms, you get,
7 4 6 5 8
u can just start with a bit of guessing and after 2 minutes u have 74658!!
ReplyDeletenot that hard

Ok, so he can't remember his five-digit code, but he can remember 5 complicated equations about the individual didgits? BWA HA HA HA HA!!!
ReplyDelete9 6 5 5 5 is the answer, I think
ReplyDeletenot that hard 74658
