In 'Outliers' Malcom Gladwell contrasts IQ with 'social intelligence' (SI). What I find most interesting about this particular teaser (i.e., 9+7=?) is the assumed reliance upon the former rather than the latter (i.e., knowing 'how' versus knowing 'where'). Both paths are equally valid if the goal is to simply identify 'the answer.' I suspect, though, the SI crowd would be cast as 'cheaters' in this game. Still, all in good fun..
A teacher asked me and my friend about who had the higher IQ. So, he gave us this puzzle. My friend took 1 day trying to find the answer and did it wrong. I did it in 1 minute thanks to Google. Google kicks ass! I earned the prize but that doesn't make me the more inteligent. Smart, maybe.
I solved this upon reading the second addition (7 + 2...). I got the solution wrong because I somehow made 9 + 7 = 17. Not only that, I used a calculator to do 9 * 17; the 323D5000.xls rightly refuses 153. OK, my IQ is negative. My mate solved this instantly too, but using this site. YEAAA! Not unlike the anonymous post above (who wrote Jack, The Jack, Hide) he's far cleverer than me just for "enquiring"
i definitely enjoy all your posting type, very remarkable, don't give up and also keep creating due to the fact that it simply just very well worth to look through it, excited to look over additional of your current writing, have a pleasant day!
144
ReplyDelete144 = (9+7) * 9
ReplyDeleteThe operation "+" here is apparently just to add the two integers and then multiply by the first.
its 144
ReplyDelete9*(9+7)

ReplyDeleteSolve the following riddles:
ReplyDelete11 EN 56 fx 97 ? 35 TE
42 12 21 56 ? 24 37 65
anonymous, can u tell the answer to ur riddle?
ReplyDeleteThe pattern indicates that
ReplyDelete'9+7'=144. However, you needed to find a different way of defining "+".
2 + 3 = 5 --------- this answer × first No.
ReplyDelete2 × 5 = 10
7 + 2 = 9
7 × 9 = 63
6 + 5 = 11
6 × 11 = 66
8 + 4 = 12
8 × 12 = 96
THEN; 9 + 7= 16
9 × 16 = 144

Point to your nose. How do you spell it? The answer it "I-T" not N-o-s-e.

ReplyDeletehello
ReplyDeletethats a good question
I think the true answer is 144
because:
2+3=10 > 2*(2+3)=10
9+7=144 > 9*(9+7)=144

The smart ones just look it up on the internet...
ReplyDeleteIf 2+3=10, 7+2=63, 6+5=66 and 8+4=96 I reckon the person who calculated them flunked math.
ReplyDelete9+7 is, anyway you see it, 16. Period!

hi, new to the site, thanks.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: First one solution is NN
ReplyDelete(Ninety seveN)..
2ns soln... cudnt get...
Try these one:
if 453+366 = 1152
366+245 = 644
then 453+245 = ?
@Zero
ReplyDeleteif 453+366 = 1152
366+245 = 644
then 453+245 = ?
sol:
453+366+333=1152
366+245+ 33= 644
453+245+ 3= 701
:=701
@ Anonymous
42 12 21 56 ? 24 37 65
sol:
4*5 = 62
42 12 21 56 62(24+4*5) 24(12+3*4) 37(21+4*4) 65(62+3*3)
144
ReplyDeleteIt's 128
ReplyDeleteThere's one other solution; these things are tricky like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's (a)²+ (a*b)=x
4+6=10
49+14=63
36+30=66
64+32=96
So the other answer is 157.
8+11
