There are 360 deg in a circle so the angle between each hour is 360 / 12 = 30 deg. At 7:20 The minute hand points exactly at the 4 and the hour hand between the 7 & 8. 20 minutes is a third of an hour so the hour hand has travelled 30 / 3 = 10 deg beyond the 7.

So the angle is 30 * 3 + 10 = 100 deg.
we can do by this way too..This formula can be used for most of the clock based problems
angle=(30*hours)~(5.5*mins)
=(30*7)~(5.5*20)
=100 deg
1 hr=30 deg.
so,from 4 to 7 it is 3 hr.
so total angle=30*3=90 deg.
Now,
1 hr=60min =30 deg.
so,
60 min =30 deg.
20 min =((30*20)/60)=10 deg.
so total angle for 7.20 is 90+10=100 deg.
