Challenging Problem



Just spell the numbers as one, two, three, .........
Now tell me which will be the shortest number
containing "Least number of "a" irrespective of the place"

Do you mean which is the first number, when spelt out, to contain the letter 'a'?

That would be "one hundred and one" unless you're from North America in which case it's "one thousand".

I think the question setter intended "number" to mean "integer" but if you wish to be pedantic about it then quarter and thousandth both come before half. However, now the problem has no answer since you can keep getting smaller and smaller - ten thousandth, thousand millionth, etc. And since numbers can also be negative (minus one hundred thousand centillion and six comes before all of those mentioned so far) we can see that this thinking ultimately leads to silliness.
