Two Paper Cubes Puzzle

A man has two paper cubes on his desk. Every day he arranges both cubes so that the front faces show the current day of the month. What numbers are required on the faces of the cubes to allow this for all possible days in the calendar?

One cube has numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5
The other cube has 0,1,2,6,7,8

The key is the the 6 is also the 9, just turn it upside down.

1 & 2 need to be on both cubes to allow for 11 & 22. No other two digit date repeats a digit (There is no 00, 33, 44...). There are 8 more digits and 8 more sides on the cubes. So, any distribution of the remaining digits will work. Keeping consecutive numbers together will minimize cube movement from day to day, but this is not a requirement of the puzzle.

The first cube would have 0,1,2,7,8, and 9

The second cube would have 1,2,3,4,5,and 6

No need to turn anything upside down!

Wrong. How would he do the 24?

Wrong. How would he do the 7, 8 or 9 with BOTH cubes?

But you will still need to put the 0 on both cubes because you need a 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09
